Play Touch Rugby League comes to Yorkshire Coast

Play Touch Rugby League will be delivered and officiated by Active Coast and Country’s Community Sport Activators in partnership with staff from the Rugby Football League.

Play Touch Rugby League is a fast, skilful and action packed team sport, played in a fun and social atmosphere, without any of the tackling you see in a traditional game of Rugby League. The game is open to all ages and abilities and is enjoyed equally by both male and female players at other sites across the UK.

SBC Sports Development Officer; Matt Hewison said “when we were writing the application for the Active Coast & Country project we engaged with a number of national governing bodies of sport to try and introduce a number of new sports to the district. The Rugby Football League were keen for us to have a look at the Play Touch Rugby League product and see if we could engage with them and develop participation opportunities in the sport. We are obviously aware of the fantastic work that both Scarborough RUFC and Whitby RUFC do for rugby union, but we thought we would take the chance to offer a new session with the league code of the sport. The sessions are designed to be fun, informal and with a strong social element for players. Participants will also have the opportunity to gain free merchandise, Play Touch Rugby League goody bags and also Super League Grand Final tickets.

Scarborough: (Starting 4th September) Monday evenings 7.00 – 8.00pm on Scarborough Sports Village’s 3G pitch, YO11 2JW.

Sessions cost £1 to play.
